For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike. And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.
Those who go down to the battle and those who remain behind to watch over personal items; those are the two needful divisions in an attack. One is the forward force that takes grave risks on the front lines, the other watches over base camp so that the enemy does not flank or destroy the very thing that you are fighting for.
