Well, the wonderful man of God, Earl Paulk, has went home to be with his father. After struggling with Cancer for a few years, Paulk finally succumbed to the disease. For those of you who don’t know, Paulk was best known as the Pastor of the Cathedral at Chapel Hill in Georgia, a mega-church with 15,000 members.
Paulk was a hyper-grace teacher who taught all of us about “Kingdom Relationships”. In his theology, it was okay for Christians (mostly staff members and parishoners) to perform sex acts with Paulk and the church leadership. It was said that Paulk would actually pray over members as they engaged in sex acts with him and other staff members. Visiting preachers were often shown the deep love of the church when they were offered “love gifts”, not a freewill offering of money for preaching but rather sex acts “given” to them by female staff.
Luckily, the Cathedral marches on, under the impressive leadership of Donnie Earl Paulk, the Archbishop’s nephew. Oh that’s right, it was revealed that Donnie Earl was
actually Earl Paulk’s son. Earl must have gotten a love gift from his brother’s wife…Luckily, his theology is not as twisted as his uncle/father’s. Well, there is that small part where he believes in the Gospel of Inclusion. As his site states: “D.E. Paulk is a radically inclusive minister of reconciliation. D.E. believes the Christ is present in all of His creation, cannot be defined by, or confined to, Christianity, and that Christ has reconciled the world to God through the finished work of grace. The word grace has always been synonymous with D.E. who does not hide Christ behind pointed fingers or pointless religion.”
On a happier note, Earl Paulk has stopped hurting people in the name of Christ. As for him going home to be with his father, all I can say is what Jesus said: “You are of your father the devil and the lusts of your father you will do.”
It is not possible for man to understand the grace of God. It is only by faith one can accept the Grace of God into their life. I had a personal struggle with my faith when I found out about the scandal..because I know for sure God put me under Paulk’s minestry. That was the turning point in my life and now I live only because Christ lives in me. My prayers are with the family
I agree that it is hard to plumb the depths of God’s grace, Travis. What isn’t so hard to understand is the Word of God, which is painfully obvious on all of the points in which Paulk transgressed.
When we engage in overlooking brutal sin in the name of grace (remember Paul’s tone to the Corinthians?) we actually define deviancy downwards until we are comfortable. Only harm and loss can come from it.
I feel for you and all of the other honest God-seeking families that have been harmed by Paulk and are being harmed by the continuing heresy of D.E. Paulk. To embrace Carlton Pearson’s heresy and willfully deceive God’s people will never be winked at by God.
God bless, friend. Hope you find some answers.
